What’s the real score on FHP’s PIT maneuver policy? Here’s the inside scoop straight from my FHP insider:

1. Question: What speed does FHP consider safe for a PIT maneuver during a chase?
Answer: The policy recently changed—NONE. Troopers can perform PITs at any speed if the situation calls for it.

Note: The PIT maneuver is considered a use of control and the member’s individual actions must be objectively reasonable. The member will consider all factors, as well as the speed of the vehicle and the benefits to the motoring public by the immediate termination of the pursuit. Members should remember that the greater the speed, the greater the likelihood of injury or death.

2. Question: Who pays or covers the costs if a civilian's car gets damaged in a pursuit?
Answer: Their insurance may cover it, or restitution may be ordered by a judge from the suspect. If the damage is caused by a trooper's car, the state pays.

3. Question: Do FHP chase and PIT policies vary between different counties or stations?
Answer: There is ONE policy - but some troops and supervisors have their own way of doing things.

So there you have it. From now on, we should expect different outcomes in FHP chases, as each one depends on the discretion of the trooper and their supervisor. A lapse or mistake by one trooper does not reflect on the entire organization.

Objective thoughts, critiques, or opinions are very welcome in the comment section. However, cop-hating or resorting to name-calling will not be tolerated and will be immediately removed.

Thank you,

Recently, I noticed several felony cases, especially fleeing and eluding, being immediately removed from the online jail database and even from court records in Miami-Dade. I’d understand if they were juvenile cases, but they’re not.

Hey guys, remember my last video with the Harley rider who got tackled by a trooper in Hernando County? Well, I’ve got another one for you—this time, it’s in Palm Beach County. I’m starting to think some of our brave FHP troopers were secretly training for the NFL in their younger days. 😂

video goes live tomorrow at 10am EST. Don’t miss it!

Hey everyone!

If you're watching one of my videos and feel that a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) trooper did an outstanding job, I'd love for you to send them some positive feedback through this link: services.flhsmv.gov/EmployeePraise/

Also, many of you have been incredibly generous by sending me Super Thanks, and I truly appreciate it. But now, I’d like to encourage you to donate to the troopers directly through their troop station instead. Let’s make sure those on the front lines get the recognition and support they deserve.

Complimenting a trooper for their hard work goes a long way and really helps boost morale.

Your appreciation means a lot—not just to me, but to the brave troopers out there who keep us safe. Let’s show them some love! 🙌
