IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:

Yesterday I posted what is most likely going to be my last video on YouTube. I've been giving this some thought and I've decided that I no longer want to continue contributing on this platform.
There are several reasons why I'm doing this but the main one being that I don't feel myself inclined to feed this giant monster that has taken control already of so many parcels of our daily lives.

As an old relentless addict that still regularly watches videos on this platform it almost sounds contradictory when I say I don't want to be part of it anymore. On the other hand, I think there's still a good part of it that's still relevant, helpful and a source of enjoyment with lots of stuff you can't find anywhere...yet.
Anyhow, I'm grateful to IT for having had the chance over the years to share with you all the good music that has shaped me as a guitarist and as a music lover. I've reached out to a loving curated circle of users that have supported me with their comments and clicks. And I've also known many incredibly gifted musicians that have inspired me greatly. Big Thanks to all of you!

Well, this is not really a goodbye since I'm definitely not going to stop practicing my old hobby of plucking the hell out of those strings and recording from time to time. It's just that I'll share the outcome elsewhere. Where? I'll announce it in due time.
I have quite a lot of music that I've worked on during this pastime of "inactivity" that's waiting to pop up.
As for my channel it's going to stay as it is (the songs remain the same?). No deletion unless someone or something beyond me in the future nukes it and then all those moments will be lost in time... Or just waiting for a recovery from backup to another website ;o)

See you,
Àlex Villalonga.

These days I'm rehearsing again a Tony Banks song (solo acoustic guitar version) that I hope to post soon but damn if it's not a tough piece for the left hand. Why so many chords Tony? :D

Cleo doing the final adjustments on my electric guitar. I had neglected this guitar for a VERY long time. Locked down in a basement and desperately in need of repair. It seems I'll get to play again with it for a while now. Thank you, Cleo!

A shout-out to "Tabletop Genesis". A Genesis podcast for fans of the band (by fans of the band).
I've been listening to this one for quite a while and enjoyed a lot the great comradery, anecdotes and fun the participants share in all the episodes. Lots of Genesis-related puns! Give it a listen.

EDIT: "Soon" might not be so soon in the end. The 2 pieces required much more practice than I thought in the first place. They will eventually pop up in the channel though so stay tuned.

Will be sharing the next Khachaturian video with the fourth and fifth pieces from the series soon. I've been re-arranging some parts where I dropped the tonality for easier playing. Now those parts are played up on the fretboard and need additional rehearsing time. This is when a classical guitar with cutaway would be really handy for me. Anyway... :D I also altered the tuning on the sixth string for both pieces. Pretty pleased with the result. See you!

It looks like the recent copyright warning I got concerning my latest video with Khachaturian music was a scam mail. Quite embarrased to have fallen on that trap without looking at the mail address before. Anyway, this means I'm back on track if the legit youtube authorities can give me a break. Thanks to user "Katherine L" for noticing it and letting me know.

Always remember to unplug noisy devices before recording.

Final video of the Khachaturian album for piano with the two remaining pieces will eventually pop up in the upcoming weeks (I hope!). I transcribed the adagio from Gayaneh some time ago but the final piece (Fuguetta) was harder than anticipated since I had to work really hard on the digitation. I finished the transcription a couple weeks ago but have been really busy in the meantime and there was no time to record it. Good thing is that I could work out other arrangements during that time. See you!

"Khacha" is not done with you. I'm working right now on the second half of the Khachaturian album for piano. I have successfully (!?) transcribed three pieces already and it's going quite well for the moment. There hasn't been much butchering of impossible notes although I did have to displace the tonality at some points when it got too high or low on the fretboard. I was actually surprised that many of these pieces work quite well directly translated into guitar, even without the need of transposing, capoing or changing the tuning on multiple strings. Stay tuned for more Khacha!
