Daikin, one of the world’s largest air-conditioning companies, is setting up its biggest global manufacturing hub in India. This major expansion will increase local production and allow India-made AC units to be exported to more than 100 countries. A strong boost for Make in India, jobs, and advanced manufacturing!
India has consistently held the top position in global milk production, accounting for nearly a quarter of the world’s supply. Currently, dairy is the largest agricultural product in the country, contributing 5% to the national economy and directly employing over 8 crore farmers.
Moreover, the sector has shown remarkable growth, with milk production rising by 63.56% from 146.30 million tonnes in 2014–15 to 239.30 million tonnes in 2023–24.

Sagar Khare, hailing from Kurdwadi village in Solapur district, Maharashtra, was working as a Project Engineer at the American company Adient. After two years, in 2019, he decided to leave his job and turn to farming. His family’s traditional chemical farming of sugarcane, wheat, and chickpeas was not profitable.
Sagar studied organic farming and chose to cultivate moringa (drumstick), a crop rich in nutrients that thrives in Solapur’s hot climate. He began farming moringa leaves on one acre and pods on four acres. The leaves are dried and processed into powder, which is sold both in India and abroad (Export to UK, Kuwait, Netherlands, Qatar, USA Markets)
His total annual turnover is ₹3.6 million, with ₹1.2 million from leaves, ₹1.7 million from pods, and ₹0.7 million from seeds. After deducting all expenses, he earns a net profit of ₹3 million, which translates to ₹600,000 per acre.
To enhance soil fertility, Sagar used green manure and vermicompost. He maintains three cows and purchased 10 kilograms of earthworms for composting. By applying organic farming techniques, he improved the soil quality.
Sagar Khare’s Export success story exemplifies the fusion of modern education and traditional farming. Through organic agriculture, he has achieved not only financial success but also set an example of environmentally friendly farming.
