I’m so excited to release Smile Bebe today!

Back in 2003, I had the chance to tour with three bands I absolutely loved: Steel Pulse, Blues Traveler, and G. Love & Special Sauce. Watching their sets from the side of the stage every night was such a thrill..I still remember hearing Steel Pulse’s “Earth Crisis” live for the first time—the groove was tight, and David Hinds' vocals were on fire. One night that really stands out was a show in Indiana. The lineup was me, then Blues Traveler, then Pat Benatar. I have this vivid memory of hanging with John Popper backstage, and at one point, he casually referred to Pat Benatar as “The Tar.” Ever since, every time I hear “Love Is a Battlefield,” I can’t help but think of The Tar.

I also did a bunch of shows with G. Love & Special Sauce. G and the Sauce always brought the vibes. I remember one night chilling with Garett on his bus, swapping new tunes and strumming guitars.

Flash forward 22 years—I had the idea to ask G to write a verse and play harp on my song Smile Bebe. I teamed up with legendary reggae producer Bonzai Caruso, who brought his magic to the track. G absolutely crushed his verse, and his harmonica playing shines.

I'm really proud of this tune and so pumped to share it with you. Hope it makes you smile and fills your day with good vibes.
