How Reika’s Coughing Condition Affects Her
Chronic Bronchitis (Lingering Cough)
Reika’s lungs are sensitive and inflamed most of the time. She can still fight, but her breathing isn’t clean or effortless like most Hashira-level fighters.
In Normal Conditions
* She has a quiet, controlled cough she suppresses using Spirit Breathing.
* Prolonged fights slowly wear her down faster than others.
* Smoke, dust, or blood in the air irritates her lungs quickly.
In the Infinity Castle (Freezing Environment)
Cold air is brutal for bronchitis.
When she enters the Infinity Castle:
* The icy air causes violent coughing fits
* Her chest tightens, making deep breaths painful
* Her breathing rhythm breaks, which is dangerous for Breathing Styles
Each inhale burned like frost cutting into her lungs, her cough echoing too loud in the endless halls—betraying her position.
This makes stealth harder, which is especially cruel for someone who relies on misdirection.

How It Affects Her Fighting Style
1. Breathing Disruption
Spirit Breathing needs smooth, flowing breaths, but:
* Coughing interrupts forms mid-motion
* She may shorten techniques or cancel them halfway
* Illusion-like footwork becomes less precise when oxygen drops
She might:
* Favor short, sudden bursts instead of prolonged exchanges
* Avoid drawn-out battles unless necessary

2. Sound = Risk
Her coughing:
* Can give away her location
* Makes ambushes riskier
* Forces her to adapt by using misdirection earlier than planned
* She might fake a cough in one direction
* Then “phase” away, turning a weakness into bait

3. Endurance Cost
Compared to other Demon Slayers:
* She tires faster in cold areas
* Overusing forms risks dizziness or blurred vision
