Dear Members I have posted the latest chapter of Phantastes (chapter 22) in two parts, because whilst I was reading the first part I had to go and answer the door bell. But it was worth answering because the postman brought the Galley Proofs of Galahad and the Grail! So I will share those with you in the next Spell in the Library, but meanwhile, sorry about the interruption to our reading!
Dear Subscribers this is just to let you all know (channel members will already know!) that I am starting a new series of weekly bonus videos for members in which I will read Phantastes, the George MacDonald novel which inspired the whole fantasy genre, particularly influencing Tolkien and Lewis. I am going to read the whole book chapter by chapter each week and include some comments and reflections with the readings, especially drawing out those places that seem to have inspired Lewis and Tolkien. If you're not already a member and would like to receive these bonus videos each week, in addition to the free public ones I post each week, you can join here for a modest subscription: youtube.com/channel/UCXat06LvIYIyE2SpV_IuVjA/join
Dear Members, Just a note to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year and to thank you for supporting me in this new venture of Channel Membership, it's much appreciated. I hope you and your friends and families have been enjoying my readings of A Christmas Carol. I have just posted the final Stave, so the reading is now complete, but of course you may wish to save that one up and watch it on Christmas day, for of course that is the day on which the final stave is set. All five staves will of course always be up there so you can enjoy them at any time. I am still waiting for a break-through in my attempts to get permission to read The Hobbit in its entirety, ut in the meantime I thought it would be fin to start another favourite in the New Year: Kenneth Grahame's the Wind in the Willows! So look out for that in early January. All the best Malcolm
