It comes from Buddhist philosophy; it’s a mindset.

What kind of state? It means your mind is calm—peaceful.

Simply put, no matter what good or bad things happen, you don’t need to get too excited or too upset.

Just approach things with a calm heart and let everything take its natural course.

“Stay calm”—this is also my dad’s catchphrase. He says it all the time.

If you’ve been feeling troubled, uneasy, or stressed about something lately,

And you need some some peace, remember to tell yourself

It’s really not easy. I think it’s a kind of practice :)

We’ll hear this phrase a lot from parents’ generation in Taiwan

May you carry a calm heart,
and let life go the way it’s meant to be.

🎧 繁忙的臺北生活Busy life in Taipei::從食物與人找到共鳴與連結 feeling connected through food and people

In this new podcast episode, I talked about my trip to Taiwan, my everyday life in Taipei, and some observations about Taiwan this year. I speak in a very relaxed way like chatting with a friend.

Observations:
🍂 Locals don’t really go to night markets anymore, and solo dining feels normal.

🍂 Taipei feels fast-paced compared to the southern Taiwan (臺中、臺南、南投) I feel like I can finally breathe there.

🍂 Healthy and comforting Taiwanese food:

🍂 Enjoying Ubike and walking, but watch out for cars in Taiwan! Even my dad drives a little crazy:(

🍂 A funny night market moment when filming: a vendor complimented my husband’s beard
(I was wondering if you noticed from the latest video?! WeTaiwanese tend to make sudden comments about appearance out of nowhere,
and that’s how conversations often start!)

🍂I noticed lots of people tend to sleep or doze off at the mall. 😂

🍂 How I feel connected to Taiwan through food, people, and memories.

I hope my content helps you feel connect to Taiwan. Transcripts (Zhuyin, pinyin and Eng) are available on my Patreon, I encourage you to study them to level up your Mandarin.

I filmed myself while checking into a hotel, but the video didn’t turn out perfect… :( It mostly shows my arm and half of my face 😅 The audio was good though. Should I still upload it to YouTube?
