Hûpp fõr Värmlann=Hope for Wermland. Her tâļã ve fûļk-måļ=Here we speak folk-dialect (The sentence is in the scandinavian dialect of Dalby in the Klara river valley in Wermland).
The dialect of Dalby is alongside the other dialects in northern Wermland, hard to decide which group it should belong to. It has both norwegian, gothian and inner scandinavian features. Therefore it is in the center of scandinavian dialects. It is halfway between norwegian and swedish, and also halfway between the gothian dialects and inner scandinavian dialects. The dialects of the inner Scandinavia is very diverse. 'Dalby-mål' (Dalby-dialect) was the first genuine dialect to be investigated in Sweden by dialectologists. This was in the 1870's.
The "Dalbyordboken" is maybe the greatest and first word-book of one specific folk-dialect.
The designation "Ôppadâļing" is for a person from the upper part of the valley, and also for the genuine tongue of that part of the valley. It was part of my former username.
