Holly the Boxer and her Puppies

Sir "Ziggy" Stardust has been my bestest buddy for nearly 12 years and this video is a tribute to my memories of him.

Boxers are an awesome breed, but they are relatively short lived.

Ziggy developed arthritis last year, but still loved to travel. If I made the mistake of starting a truck while he was outside, it was hard to get him inside the house. He would prance around the truck like "Lets ride!"

After returning from my last trip in the middle of January, Ziggy got real weak and lethargic. I took him to the vet and I knew he wouldn't be coming home. They determined that he had cancer of the spleen that spread to his lungs and was extremely anemic. That explained his weakness...

Any remedies that we could have tried would not have had any lasting effects and this would only have prolonged his suffering. I made the only decision that I could. My mind was screaming NO, but I had to do what was best for him.

Also in this memorial is another Boxer puppy that looked just like him. I named her Star. She was hit and killed by a car when she was only 9-1/2 months old. I was a basket case that day, and Ziggy was at my side the whole day. I reached out to the breeder where I got her, and I got Holly from her next litter.

Holly is now 8 years old and I kept 2 puppies from their first litter, Copper and Scotty. Copper is named after Ziggy's dad, and Scotty was my Dad's nickname. All are included in this memorial. The picture of Ziggy sleeping on the floor next to Holly in her whelping pen was taken the same day that Copper and Scotty was born.
