Last year, the production team at Extreme Music (Sony Music Publishing) asked if I would be interested in producing an album for their music catalogue inspired by 1980s โVice Dramaโ soundtrack vibes with a saxophone feature - right up my alley!
For this project I drew a lot of inspiration from composers like Michael Kamen, Harold Faltermeyer, and James Horner, whose soundtrack work on films like Lethal Weapon, Beverly Hills Cop, Tango & Cash, and Commando has influenced my own musical style.
This project also turned out to be an interesting challenge as every track had to be modular/re-arrangable in segments and the component stems/groups needed to be able to be used in different mix configurations for any alternate versions which are often required for background music in TV/film.
The result of this commission is this new EP โNeon Viceโ which, in addition to becoming part of the Extreme Music catalogue, has also been released on streaming platforms through KPM Music / Sony Music Publishing.
