Gender DynamiX (GDX) is the first registered Africa-based public benefit organisation to focus solely on trans and gender-diverse communities. What started as a mere vision, slowly grew into a grassroots organisation. GDX has since become an institutionalised non-profit organisation (NPO) that is fundamental to the development of the trans and gender-diverse movement(s) in South Africa and across southern Africa

#NaliThemba: Year Two in Motion
Last week, Gender DynamiX, COSPE, and implementing partners — The Fruit Basket (Gauteng), S.H.E. (Eastern Cape), Darling Pride Angels (Western Cape), Trans Hope (KwaZulu-Natal), Trans Wellness Project (Western Cape), and D’Gayle (Northern Cape) — finalised their proposals and prepared for the implementation of the second year of the Nali’Themba project.
The Nali’Themba project seeks to document and respond to human rights violations, provide emergency support, dismantle barriers to access at both community and provincial levels, and simultaneously promote intra- and cross-movement collaborations to strengthen efforts against gender-based violence and femicide.
As we enter the second year, we remain committed to amplifying the voices of trans and queer people across the country, expanding support systems, and deepening collaboration — to build safer, more equal, and more resilient communities for all.
Co-funded by the European Union.

Under the Red Umbrella, Everyone Deserves Safety and Respect.
On International Sex Workers’ Day, we stand with all sex workers — across every gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ability, immigration status, and lived experience.
The Red Umbrella has come to symbolise the ongoing struggle for sex worker rights and freedom, but it is more than just a symbol — it’s a call for protection, dignity, and justice for people too often pushed to the margins.
Sex work is practiced by people of all genders and bodies.
Recognising sex work as legitimate labour is essential to affirming bodily autonomy, ensuring labour rights, and building safer communities.
Why it matters for all of us:
🔹 Reduces violence and exploitation
🔹 Promotes public health and access to services
🔹 Shifts focus from criminalisation to care and empowerment
🔹 Builds a more just, informed, and productive society
As we enter Pride Month, we uplift the voices of LGBTQIA+ and sex workers.
🏳️🌈 No one is free until everyone is safe.

✨ 100 Days of Light ✨
We gathered to honor Imam Muhsin Hendricks — a spiritual pioneer, teacher, and passionate advocate for justice. As Mmapaseka Steve Letsike, Deputy Minister in the Presidency for Women, Youth, and Persons with Disabilities, reminded us:
“We must ensure that dignity, equality, and freedom are not just constitutional ideals — but everyday realities in every mosque, church, home, and heart.”
The evening featured the unveiling of a powerful portrait by artist Seth Deacon, symbolizing Imam Muhsin’s lasting impact. Dr. Nadeem Mahomed delivered a profound lecture on the intersections of queerness and faith, emphasizing that “faith is not the enemy of queerness. It can be the language through which our truth is spoken.”
Imam Muhsin showed us that faith and freedom are not mutually exclusive, and his legacy continues to light the way toward a more just and inclusive society. 🌈🕯️

🌈 STEP INTO YOUR POWER, CLAIM YOUR TRUTH—SAFELY! 🌈
On this International Coming Out Day, we celebrate visibility, courage, and living authentically. Coming out is your right, but your mental and physical well-being must come first. The world is still working to overcome transphobia and homophobia, so here’s how to step into your truth safely:
Assess Your Environment: Ensure you’re in a space where you feel safe and supported.
Find Your Community: Surround yourself with those who affirm your identity—whether in-person or online.
Come Out on Your Terms: There’s no rush. Take control of when and how you share your story.
Know Your Rights: You deserve spaces that respect your identity. Advocate for yourself, but always prioritise safety.
Celebrate Your Courage: Whether you come out today or in the future, your bravery is powerful.
We are here, we are resilient, and we will not be silenced! Claim your truth proudly, but always protect your well-being first. Together, we’re creating the world we deserve. 🌈
