Hello everyone :)
As some of you may have already noticed, my summer video was blocked by Nintendo. And all because I included the main theme from Animal Crossing New Horizons. So I'd like to say a few words about this.
I always put a lot of effort into my playlists, both in terms of choosing the right songs and the right background video. Since I filmed and edited the background for all of my videos myself, including the summer playlist, and the video consists of several songs other than just the ACNH main theme, I believe that the video is protected by "fair use", because the copyrighted content has been significantly altered.
So I filed a protest. Of course, it was promptly rejected. However, since I had previously deleted my videos after uploading them due to lack of storage space, I don't have an archive of the video. So I'm going to refrain from filing another protest, because if it's rejected again, Nintendo can have the video removed completely and it would be lost forever. I will therefore cut out the segment in the hope that this will do the trick, even though I'm not happy about it.
Nintendo was my childhood and is still a big part of my life today. They are the reason I came up with the idea of creating this little safe space on YouTube, without making any money from it. Originally, I wanted this channel to be a kind of digital library for myself, as music for learning. But your lovely comments inspired me to continue. That's why I regret it all the more that Nintendo is taking such vehement action against me and other Nintendo music channels. I would understand if I were making money from it, but as I said in my bio, "I just want to put a smile on people's faces."
Nevertheless, I wish you all happy holidays and a good start to the new year. And don't worry, I for one am not going to let this get me down. I already have lots of ideas for the coming year, so you have something to look forward to :)
