In 2005 I joined four comics on a comedy tour of Victorian towns with plans to make it a documentary. I was a one-man band shooter/producer/director. And I knew nothing about the country regions of Victoria.

Between Nagambie, Stawell, Warracknabeal, Wodonga, Ararat, Hopetoun and Nhill were places filled with colourful characters and hospitable people who loved to laugh.

We hit a snag half way through the trip when a publican in Dimboola forgot the comics were coming to perform at his pub. This clip shows how Spud Murphy took the initiative to quickly secure another gig that same day in a town up the road. And it shows the true nature of Aussie country communities, always willing to give people a fair go.

Spud Murphy subsequently lost all the footage I shot, about 25 mini DV tapes. Fifteen years later fellow comic Mark Starford found them in a box inside his shed. Several tapes are still missing but enough was there to put this package together.

When people searched for #metoo content and mistakenly typed #metro, they got this video. I can't otherwise explain how this vid engaged with so many, but thanks for the comments.
