Miss Grand International Public Company Limited Ref: MGI10-2569 Date: 5 May 2026
Subject: Acquisition of Miss Universe License Rights in 5 Countries
To: The President The Stock Exchange of Thailand
Miss Grand International Public Company Limited (the “Company”) would like to inform that the Board of Directors’ Meeting held on 30 April 2026 has approved the Company to enter into an agreement to acquire the rights for managing and operating the Miss Universe License in 5 countries as follows:
1. Socialist Republic of Vietnam 2. Republic of Indonesia 3. Malaysia 4. Republic of Singapore 5. Lao People’s Democratic Republic
Scope of Rights Acquired Under this agreement, the Company has been granted exclusive rights to manage, organize, and operate all activities related to the Miss Universe License in the aforementioned 5 countries. The scope includes:
1. Rights to manage the national-level beauty pageants in each country 2. Rights to organize activities and projects related to the pageants 3. Rights to develop commercial opportunities and brand-related programs 4. Rights to appoint sub-licensees (one per country)
Opinion of the Board of Directors The Board has considered and determined that this transaction is not considered a connected transaction and does not constitute an acquisition or disposition of significant assets under the regulations of the Stock Exchange of Thailand. It will not have a material impact on the Company’s financial position.
However, this acquisition is expected to enhance the Company’s growth potential, expand its international business presence, and generate long-term revenue opportunities.
The Company will proceed with contract finalization and will provide further updates if there are any significant developments.
What an absolute bombshell for the pageant community! It’s officially official: the Miss Grand International organization confirmed today, March 12, that Gazini Ganados is indeed joining the inaugural Miss Grand All Stars (1st Edition).
This is a massive move because Gazini, our Miss Universe Philippines 2019, is stepping back into the arena after a several-year hiatus from active competing. The “All Stars” format is proving to be the “wild west” of pageantry, especially with the 20 to 40 age range and the fact that it’s open to both women and trans women who have previously graced an international stage.
It is an exciting year for the Miss Universe Philippines (MUPH) 2026 pageant! The partnership with PayMaya is a game-changer, introducing a new system that allows fans to influence the results more consistently than ever before.
So does having many followers translate to massive votes?
The short answer is: Not necessarily, but it provides a massive head start. While a large following (high reach) is a powerful tool, the conversion into actual votes depends on several factors:
1. Reach vs. Engagement
A candidate might have 500k followers, but if her audience is “passive” (people who just like photos), they may not take the time to download the Maya app, upgrade their account, and vote daily. Conversely, a candidate with only 50k followers but a “hyper-active” fanbase (fandoms like those of BGYO, SB19, or local showbiz stars) can often outvote someone with ten times her following because her fans are organized.
2. The “Maya Upgrade” Factor
MUPH has incentivized upgraded Maya accounts by giving them access to free votes. This means the winner of the challenges won’t just be the most “famous” person, but the one whose followers are willing to engage with the partner’s platform.
3. The “Silent Majority” & Quality of Content
As we saw with past winners like Michelle Dee or Catriona Gray, social media is used as a storytelling tool. If a “lesser-followed” candidate releases a viral video or a powerful advocacy speech, she can gain “momentum votes” from the general public who aren’t necessarily part of her initial follower count.
Meantime, here are the Top5 most followed Miss Universe Philippines 2026 delegates on Instagram:
1. Roxie Baeyens - Baguio 2. Nicole Borromeo - Cebu Province 3. Jayka Noelle - Negros Oriental 4. Adela Mae Marshall - Muntinlupa 5. Jacqueline Raj - Tacloban City
INSTA SCOOP | MISS UNIVERSE ORG SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER QUASHES NEW OWNERSHIP RUMORS ONLINE
The situation has definitely been tense, especially with the 75th anniversary approaching.
The Miss Universe Organization has repeatedly denied new ownership rumors circulating on social media. In official statements released in early 2026, the MUO clarified that it remains under the same leadership—specifically co-owned by Raul Rocha Cantú (Legacy Holding Group) and Anne Jakrajutatip (JKN Global Group). They have explicitly labeled rumors of a sale or a change in management as "false and misleading."
These rumors were fueled largely by statements from Filipino businessman Chavit Singson, who claimed the pageant was looking for new owners. The MUO has since threatened legal action to protect its brand from these claims.
2. The Puerto Rico Hosting Situation
The hosting of the 2026 pageant in Puerto Rico has also been a major point of friction. In late 2025, the Puerto Rico Tourism Company (PRTC) reportedly halted the disbursement of public funds (part of a $9 million commitment) for the event.
As widely reported, the government indicated it wanted to review the contract and discuss "new requirements." While there was speculation that Puerto Rico's government preferred a change in leadership due to the controversies surrounding the 2025 crown and legal issues facing the current owners, the official stance from the island's authorities is an ongoing evaluation of "institutional and logistical alignment."
While the event is still officially scheduled for November 2026 at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum, the financial and political "limbo" continues until a formal meeting between the government and the current owners resolves the outstanding issues.
3. The Instagram "Disappearance"
The official Miss Universe Instagram account went missing for several days in mid-February 2026. While the MUO didn't release a technical report, the account's return on February 24 has been seen by fans as an attempt to regain control of the narrative, though comments remain heavily moderated or disabled to prevent further backlash.
Never have seen many Miss Earth titleholders join Miss Universe Philippines in a single year. Yllana Marie Aduana (Miss Philippines Earth 2023 and Miss Earth Air 2023) really did showcase how the “Beauty for a Cause” training translates perfectly to the Miss Universe Philippines (MUPH) stage. Her intelligence and advocacy-driven approach have clearly inspired her fellow “Earth” sisters to transition to the “Universe.” The 2026 edition of Miss Universe Philippines is shaping up to be one of the most competitive “crossover” years in history.: Hence, are you ready to support your Queens in MUPh this year, Earthlings?

While there were many moments from the 2022 Miss Universe Extravaganza in Thailand, the specific term “performative” has become a talking point now.
In an exclusive interview with broadcast journalist , Karen Davila, on her Youtube Channel, Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray used that sentiment to address the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) owner, Anne Jakrajutatip (Khun Anne), following an onstage interaction during that particular event.
Both Nicole Borromeo and Dr. Gabbi Carballo have become synonymous with Cebuano pageant excellence. While both are celebrated for their winning streaks, their “undefeated” status is a popular point of discussion among pageant fans—Gabbi has explicitly stated she has “never lost a pageant yet,” whereas Nicole has a storied history of podium finishes and major crowns.
Here is a breakdown of their respective pageant titles and journeys:
Nicole Borromeo
Nicole is widely considered one of the most successful “binibinis” from Cebu. While she has placed as a runner-up in some early competitions, she is often called “undefeated” in terms of securing major titles whenever she reaches the final stage of a national or international path.

Dr. Gabbi Carballo
Gabbi Carballo, a Doctor of Medicine graduate , has also maintained a remarkable record, often being dubbed the “Silent Killer” by fans. In a 2025 interview, she noted that she had yet to lose a pageant she entered, having won the primary title or an appointed national crown in every outing.

Posting this so i will be more mindful and self-aware about my actions, not just in MUPH but also in the other pageants I cover, from now on. I am grateful for your love and forgiveness, MUPH🙏🏻 Starting all over again❤️
