While he was praying his face changed in appearance and his clothing became dazzling white.
And behold, two men were conversing with him, Moses and Elijah,*
who appeared in glory and spoke of his exodus that he was going to accomplish in Jerusalem.
Peter and his companions had been overcome by sleep, but becoming fully awake, they saw his glory* and the two men standing with him.
As they were about to part from him, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good that we are here; let us make three tents,* one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” But he did not know what he was saying.
I listened to a testimony of a Jewish Harvard professor who had visions of Jesus and Mary then converted to Catholicism. He said the veil of heaven and earth is so thin that when he saw Jesus, Jesus was more real than everything else around him. I often think of that when I meditate on the Transfiguration. The veil of heaven and earth was so thin that Peter was worried about where Moses and Elijah would sleep.

Simon said in reply, “Master, we have worked hard all night and have caught nothing, but at your command I will lower the nets.”
When they had done this, they caught a great number of fish and their nets were tearing.
They signaled to their partners in the other boat to come to help them. They came and filled both boats so that they were in danger of sinking.”
One of the biggest lessons I learned in 2025 is that self reliance will get you no where. I have done many things in my “own power” believing the lie that if I worked hard I would get what I wanted. But what I really got was burnout.
In 2025 I committed to radically following the promptings of Christ in my life even if the promptings felt like the complete opposite of what I “should” be doing. The results were shocking. God completely transformed so many areas of my life I had been stuck despite so much hard work.

Chapter 3 - Luke 3:9 "Therefore every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire"
The context is John the Baptist is talking to the Pharisees telling them not to think they will be safe from hell because they are sons of Abraham. It makes me think of all the Christians that believe they are saved from hell by believe Jesus Christ is Lord.
If your faith doesn't change you and cause you to bear good fruit than do you have faith at all?
Journaling exercise: What fruit are you bearing in your own life? Your words, your habits, your thoughts, your health, your relationships.
Luke Chapter 4: Luke 4:38-39
“After he left the synagogue, he entered the house of Simon.* Simon’s mother-in-law was afflicted with a severe fever, and they interceded with him about her. He stood over her, rebuked the fever, and it left her. She got up immediately and waited on them.”
We are still slowly getting back on our feet from having RSV. I’ve been so tired this week. Seemingly more tired than last week when I was in the hospital with Oliver not sleeping at all. I think I’m finally feeling the physical toll of all of the sickness, lack of sleep and emotional stress.
On Monday, while cooking dinner for my family feeling the heaviness from fatigue I meditated on how when Jesus healed Simon’s mother she immediately waited on them and provided hospitality. How healing from Jesus fully restores us. So I prayed a simple prayer “heal me Lord like Simon’s mother in law so I can better serve my family” and I felt better. The Lord lightened my burdens.
I forgot all about that prayer until I read today’s gospel. It’s been 4 full days of serving my family when I thought I had nothing to give. God provided.
Thank you for all your prayers. The grace truly carried us through this heartbreaking week. What was supposed to be the one week a year I get with my entire family became a week isolated in the hospital.
Your prayers have filled me with peace in the midst of this disappointment. Oliver left the hospital Thursday night and we were able to see my family for a few short hours Friday night.
In all things God is good. Even when we don’t understand them. Please continue to pray for Oliver’s healing. 🙏🏻💖
