From the dense rainforest canopy to the vibrant coral reefs, habitats shape the life within them, and in turn, are shaped by it. It's more than just a home; it's a relationship. Our new blog post, "The Bond Between Species and Their Habitats," explores the beautiful dance between life and its environment.

You can read it here - open.substack.com/pub/justlearningindia/p/habitats…

#India is making big progress in clean energy by adding a lot more wind power. In early 2025 alone, we added 3.5 gigawatts (GW) of wind energy—an 82% increase from the year before! This helps reduce pollution and fight #climatechange. But there’s a problem we need to think about.
.
Many birds, including rare and endangered ones like the great Indian bustard, are dying near wind farms. This is especially happening in areas like the Thar Desert, where wind turbines are built along important bird migration routes. Birds can’t always see the fast-moving blades, and they sometimes crash into them or nearby power lines.
.
Offshore wind farms—those built in the sea—are also growing in India. These help us use the power of the wind over the ocean, but they can affect sea animals and birds too. Experts say we need to study these impacts more carefully.
.
Some tools, like AVISTEP, help scientists find safe places for wind projects so animals aren’t harmed. But India doesn’t always require environmental checks before building onshore wind farms, which is a big concern.
.
Clean energy is very important, but we also need to protect animals and nature. It’s all about finding the right balance between growing green energy and keeping our environment safe.
