A friend of mine down in Nashville TN doesn't know it, but made my day very much worth calling a day.
Mel helps local families and homeless people reconnect, she also goes out her way to be a friend for many of the people down there.

She was having a hard day today so I commented on her reel on Instagram to try and cheer her up if I could.

Her reply reminded me that I once did do a few good things while I was in TN.

Thank you Mel

You were there for me, and what are friends if they aren't there for each other?

Some projects require a powering option. I'll need three more components, I can generate 30 amps with this with appropriate battery system. This can also take 3.5 watts, and increase the output to 60 watts for that without much power drain.

This makes up for having quick lighting in dark conditions, more on that around summer.

I needed a light dimmer that won't eat too much power but will power any light I need. In my case I keep a few rope lights around, the shed outside has no power, so the building needs lighting, it's an old 1800s restroom after all that turned into a shed.

Not only do you see a dress, but you're seeing a fringetied dress, that was made from a roll of fabric and a pair of scissors. This fabric works well as an under layer for clothing. However it used to be all I had at one time in my life to wear until I got more clothing. This thing holds a memory of a moment in my life I told a city, (f#@k you Im gonna have clothes my own way) those were my coming out years.

I spent them homeless, camping 24/7, foraging from trash cans for food, and barely ever pan handling for anything other than winter gear when the time came.

Other than that, I used two tarps as my main shelter system. I lived in an envelope until I got a third tarp to increase my space and functionality of shelter

And in Nashville, it was always a better idea to have a camp system you can pack up easily every day to go about the day before finding another sleeping spot.

Today I share this story
As a way of saying, adaptation is accessible in a time of dire need. In my case I was homeless, I had to figure a lot of things out on my own. And some people experience homelessness in far worse conditions than I have.

I finished a prickly pear cactus page. Some busted discard writing pens were used as a quill ink, in combination with some of my acrylic white paint, and a green sharpie that's trying to run dry.

I guess they call this creative reuse.

My quill for the moment is just a plastic soda straw I've modified to use as a quill pen. And a sea shell to dip my quill in for the ink.

I'm getting back into an old hobby I had as a kid but this time since I'm older I'm a little more creative. I got a blank vintage journal and decided to make another bush journal with some nature art in it.

The last one I made was lost on a Greyhound, but I manage to keep my smaller note pad, which will tiny pages added to this book. I use a reed pen I commonly make from small bamboo, for these journals.

This is Lancaster County favorite when it comes to some of the books, I am borrowing it from a friend, as it has a lot of PA plants, ones that grow here and elsewhere.

Mainly for health reasons.

However I found something interesting, stinging nettle I am familiar with, but didn't know the many other uses it does have.

Like for clothing, which is interesting, clothing is important.

Went out to speedwell forge today, made a decent little grass rope, about 4 to 5 feet of it, and as the rain was starting to fall on the way back to Basecamp, I found a broom and very nice pathway solar lights on a back road I took to cut my time in half to get back home. I'd say, it's been a nice day, can't argue that I find some of the coolest shit in the woods to make, and then find some cool shit from the urban environment on the way back.

Hope everyone else has had a good day, or at least a somewhat ok day.

See y'all around in the next live or video upload.

Have a good weekend. I enjoyed lantern fly observing today, they are on their preferred Heaven Tree. Consider invasive, but I look at humans as the invasive species since most invasive things here were brought by humans. We introduced them, by bringing the plant they desire, and in America they desire the heaven tree, and Asian species of trees. But will harm other trees. Mostly ones that sap. So far, I heard and haven't studied, but milkweed is something they love, but it'll kill them or slow them down. If you don't like an invasive species, then get rid of the invasive plant. You'll lower their number significantly. I just don't see how squishing them does any of that since they are in very large numbers. I adore them, and traditionally, I learn to coexist with this species. Often taking joy in observing them, and appreciating them for being pretty.
