Gardening with Fran

My red and pink are making a pretty display in my garden. My white is not far behind. Astilbes look beautiful in cut flower arrangements and blooms can be harvested as soon as they unfurl in all their beauty!
Just avoid harvesting more than 1/3 of your plant’s stems or flowers at once to prevent stress.
Astilbe flowers typically last in a vase for about 4 to 12 days, but they also dry beautifully.

Today’s garden plans - transplanting these winter sowed onions into their beds and starting more root vegetables that can handle the cooler temperatures like carrots, beets, and turnips. 🧅🥕
My first year trying the winter sowing and happy with how well it worked.

I had planned on pruning my peach tree and blueberry bushes but Mother Nature dumped white stuff on us again last night, so think it will wait a day or two. I'll video the process and share when I do. Today I will do some winter seed sowing in containers for milkweed, poppies, onions, parsley and spinach instead.
