The concept of the lineal championship—often referred to as "the man who beat the man"—became incredibly important during this decade because the major sanctioning bodies (WBA, WBC, and IBF) were constantly stripping champions and fracturing titles.

3. Evander Holyfield (First Reign: 1990–1992)
Reign: Oct 25, 1990 – Nov 13, 1992

The Details: Holyfield knocked out a sluggish Buster Douglas in the 3rd round to claim the lineal and undisputed crown. He defended it successfully against legends like George Foreman and Larry Holmes before running into his ultimate rival.

4. Riddick Bowe (1992–1993)
Reign: Nov 13, 1992 – Nov 6, 1993

The Details: Bowe defeated Holyfield in a brutal, 12-round classic to become the undisputed champion. Bowe famously dumped his WBC belt in a trash can rather than fight mandatory challenger Lennox Lewis, but he maintained the true lineal championship status.

5. Evander Holyfield (Second Reign: 1993–1994)
Reign: Nov 6, 1993 – Apr 22, 1994

The Details: Holyfield avenged his loss to Bowe in their famous "Fan Man" rematch (interrupted by a paraglider crashing into the ring) to regain the lineal status.

6. Michael Moorer (1994)
Reign: Apr 22, 1994 – Nov 5, 1994

The Details: Moorer defeated Holyfield via a standard majority decision, making him the first southpaw heavyweight champion in history.

7. George Foreman (1994–1997)
Reign: Nov 5, 1994 – Nov 22, 1997

The Details: At 45 years old, Foreman pulled off a miraculous 10th-round knockout of Michael Moorer to recapture the championship he had lost to Muhammad Ali 20 years prior. While alphabet organizations stripped him of their physical belts for refusing certain fights, Foreman remained "the man who beat the man."

8. Shannon Briggs (1997–1998)
Reign: Nov 22, 1997 – Mar 28, 1998

The Details: Briggs won a highly controversial, heavily criticized majority decision against an aging George Foreman to claim the lineage.

9. Lennox Lewis (1998–2001)
Reign: Mar 28, 1998 – Apr 22, 2001 (Lost to Hasim Rahman, but regained it later)

The Details: Lewis completely dismantled Shannon Briggs, knocking him down multiple times before stopping him in the 5th round. By beating Briggs, Lewis secured the lineal title. He closed out the decade by defeating Evander Holyfield in late 1999 to officially unify the lineal title with the major alphabet belts, cementing himself as the definitive heavyweight king going into the new millennium.

Filipino professional boxer Manny Pacquiao plans to open more boxing and training facilities in various countries following the launch of the Pacquiao Prime Boxing Gym in Los Angeles, California.

According to MP Promotions, the facility will serve as a flagship gym, with the goal of training boxers and supporting them in building their careers.

Target locations include Vancouver, Toronto, New York, Miami, Dallas, the United Arab Emirates, India, and parts of Europe.

MP Promotions also noted that Los Angeles was chosen initially due to its large Filipino community and the city's strong boxing culture.

There is no specific date yet for the opening of a gym in the Philippines, but more projects are expected to launch starting in 2027.
