Over the last decade, Charles Jenkins has infused the gospel radio airwaves with an eclectic mix

of hits, ranging from the gold-selling praise and worship anthem “Awesome” to the infectious 5th Ward New Orleans groove of “Can’t Turn Back.” He continues to broaden his musical horizons with a Big Band styled digital holiday EP, “A Charles Jenkins Christmas” (Inspired People), that is now available on all digital platforms (Listen: smarturl.it/ACJChristmas).



Jenkins composed all the songs on the five-track set. It opens with the bouncy “It’s Christmas Day” which showcases nimble ivory-tickling, a bold brass section, and a suave upright bass. It’s followed by the jump number, “Let’s Dance,” a dazzling duet with Lena Byrd Miles that feels as thrilling as a Fred Astaire-Ginger Rogers dance routine. The ballad, “Under the Christmas Sky” is a majestically orchestrated song about the Christ child’s birth. “The Christmas Hop” is a rollicking tune that recalls Cab Calloway’s Swing tracks like “Hi De Ho Man.” The project concludes with a tear-jerking soul ballad, “Christmas Ain’t the Same” that nostalgically recalls holiday memories with loved ones who have passed away. It’s a brilliant collection of new classics.

“I wanted to produce some new Christmas music that has the potential to be timeless,” Jenkins said when asked why he chose this classic genre “I am fascinated by the smooth classic works of Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Cab Calloway and others. I wanted to try to pay homage to their impeccable blueprint in the 21st century. I want to create art that is warm, classic, and celebratory in a sophisticated way. I feel like my producer Sam Williams and my amazing team of talented musicians, transcribers, and arrangers nailed it.”



Fans can see Jenkins on stage and screen this season. He performs on “The Stellar Tribute to the Holidays” television program currently running in syndication through the end of the year. It airs nationally on December 25, 2021 @ 1 PM EST/ 12 PM CST on the BOUNCE television network. After Christmas, Jenkins hits the road in ALW Entertainment’s “Joyful Holiday Experience” concert tour that also features The Clark Sisters, Marvin Sapp, Le’Andria Johnson, and Ricky Dillard. Yolanda Adams and Serayah have been tapped to star in Kingdom Business, a music-driven drama executive produced by DeVon Franklin (Miracles From Heaven), Holly Carter (The Clark Sisters: The First Ladies of Gospel), multi-Grammy-award-winner Kirk Franklin and Michael Van Dyck.

Written by John Sakmar and Kerry Lenhart, co-creators of Mr. & Mrs. Smith the series, the eight-episode Kingdom Business explores the gospel music industry through the lenses of family, faith, love and the redemptive power of music.

The series will be led by Adams as the reigning “Queen of Gospel” Denita Jordan and Serayah as Rbel, a talented up-and-coming gospel star with a troubled past who threatens Denita’s crown. In addition to their leading roles, both Adams and Serayah will be featured in musical performances.

Michael Jai White also stars as Julius “Caesar” Jones, a powerful producer and Denita’s former collaborator turned rival; Michael Beach as Calvin Jordan, Denita’s husband and Bishop of First Kingdom Church; and Chaundre A. Hall-Broomfield as Taj Jordan, the son of Calvin and Denita and the apple of his mother’s eye.

The series follows Denita (Adams), a gospel superstar who runs an in-house record label, Kingdom Records, in addition to acting as First Lady of First Kingdom Church, who is determined to guard her family and its many secrets at all cost. Just as Denita is enjoying the fruits of her labor, the world she’s worked so hard to put together begins to unravel when an unexpected contender in the gospel music scene threatens her status. Rbel (Serayah) is a young woman on the rise whose checkered past as an exotic dancer is no match for her destiny to turn the gospel world on its head with her new-found voice.

Recurring cast includes Tamar Braxton as Sasha, La’Miya Good as Essence, Aspen Kennedy as Zyan, Kiandra Richardson as C.J. Jordan-Walker, Kajuana Shuford Marie as Dani and Sam Malone as Dex.

New Single From Brandon Camphor & OneWay Brings “Christmas Joy”


There’s just something magical about Christmas songs – the nostalgia, the traditions, and feelings that can only be described as Christmas joy!
