There was a thought of moving them to my second channel where my archive videos are (when I Livestream) but, I'm choosing not to do that as it would take me so much time to move everything. Cutting many ties with things as over 16 years of this channel being where it is now. 15 years worth of videos from deck profiles, discussion videos, team analysis and, Livestreams (yeah those things I stopped doing over 3 years ago). I really wanna make more time for myself and, as of recent I'm on the fence about a very major change that can effect this channel moving forward. I'll have another post in detail about things. Hello everyone HPJ here and yes I know about the ports of Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen coming to the switch. I'll be getting both for obvious reasons. I know a lot of controversy about all this. Idgaf I'm going to get them and have fun.
I was gonna do a video but, after 8 tries I can't. I legit got lightheaded and a headache. So I'll just put some key points below for those who are new to the game. Yes there are gonna be people playing these games for the 1st time. Even more so people return to the series to help their kids play the games. Let them have fun and, be quiet unless they ask for help. Now with that said my list of things to know for FireRed and LeafGreen will be below. I'll see you all on Thursday


Key notes for Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen:

1) these games are the remakes of Pokemon red and green (not blue). Blue was an international release for the pokemon series. Japan did get the game just later on around the time we all got its international release.

2) it's visuals are gonna be based on gen 3 games Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire. Lots of colors and, music like the GBA (idk if they are gonna fix the music but, hope not). You'll love it.

3) no gaining exp from pokemon capture. Your team has to actually battle to gain exp. There is an exp share but it's a held item. It doesn't give your party exp all around. That was gen 6 and on that did it. You will have to grind for exp on all party members. It will consume time but, look up guides that will help you find great spots for it.

4) tms are not reusable they are one time only use. Hms (hidden machines) are gonna be back. You will need a pokemon to use those moves to get you through certain areas. Better known as the hm slave (yes that what we called them back then). You can remove the hms later but that's not until you get to fushia city. If you want to relearn moves you have to wait until island 2 of the sevii islands to relearn them. You'll need 2 tiny mushrooms or 1 big mushroom to do such. Kanto doesn't have luvdisc so you'll have to farm paras and parascite for mushrooms with moves that steal items from pokemon.

5) there is not physical special spilt. That was introduced in gen 4 (diamond and pearl). So many of the moves will run on the type. For that I'll post below which is which. As they never explained it outside of guides. Later on lps, walk throughs and, websites. So here is that list

This is important to know cause some pokemon aren't gonna have a good set up like they do nowadays. Sadly this isn't gonna be good where in these games. They aren't gonna have pure ghosts and/or steel types. Many of them are gonna be duel types and the steel moves are gonna be limited to whatever is available. Also no dark types until post game. You'll have pokemon learning dark moves but like the chart above states dark is special based. Also Gengar line is the only ghost until Misdervus but that post. They will be duel type with poison and weak to psychic types. Plan accordingly.

6) breeding there are gonna be 2 breeders in this game. The main one in kanto will only take 1 pokemon at a time. Exp that pokemon will gain is based on the number of steps you take. The second is post game and that breeder is on the 4th islands and will produce eggs of Pokemon you leave there. If you want certain moves use the breeder to help with that. Especially cause gen 2 and 3 had you do a lot of breeding to not only complete the Pokedex but also get better move sets.

7) new content was added for FireRed and LeafGreen in the form of sevii island. 3 during the main game and, 4 during the post. They have more Pokemon (you can get for kanto dex), trainers and content ment for the original games. post game they have tons of post game content. Take advantage of all of it. Johto - Hoenn pokemon will be available (If they choose to allow that via home). Also you have to complete the side quest to get the chance of trading those Pokemon over. A stronger elite four who they will have new members from Johto deck. So be ready and train like crazy.
