A strong nation is not judged only by speeches or media image, but by how much influence it holds in regional and global diplomacy. The recent Nepal meeting issue has raised questions about India’s geopolitical position in South Asia. While neighboring countries once depended heavily on New Delhi, China’s growing economic and strategic presence is changing the balance of power in the region.

From infrastructure investments to diplomatic outreach, China has expanded its influence across South Asia, including Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan. This has created challenges for India’s traditional regional dominance. Critics argue that India’s foreign policy today appears more reactive than strategic, causing concerns about weakening regional trust and declining geopolitical leverage.

In modern geopolitics, real power comes from stable diplomacy, strong alliances, economic influence, and mutual respect with neighboring nations — not just nationalism or political narratives.

This is how democracy works.

Democracy is not only about winning elections but also about respecting the people’s decision. That is why M. K. Stalin’s statement — “Let Vijay form the government. We will watch without disturbing for six months” — was appreciated by many people.

The statement shows political maturity because instead of creating immediate conflict after elections, it supports giving the elected government a fair chance to work. It reflects the idea that the opposition should observe, question, and criticize democratically, but not try to create instability from day one.

This is considered good for democracy because it respects the public mandate, promotes stability, and encourages healthy political competition instead of unnecessary hostility.

After reading reports from The Times of India, Economic Times, The Week, Business Standard and others, I seriously believe the West Bengal SIR exercise raises major questions about democracy and the neutrality of the Election Commission.

More than 90 lakh names were reportedly deleted/excluded from voter rolls, and many people publicly claimed that they were alive, Indian citizens, yet still unable to vote because their names vanished. What makes this more suspicious is that high concentrations of deletions were reported from politically sensitive districts like Murshidabad, Malda, Nadia and North 24 Parganas.

Another question people are asking is this: around 27 lakh names were reportedly removed after adjudication, while the BJP–TMC vote gap was being discussed in a similar range of around 25 lakh votes. Maybe coincidence, maybe not — but in a democracy, citizens have every right to question such patterns.

Yes, fake or duplicate voters should be removed. But if genuine citizens lose voting rights and the impact appears concentrated in specific regions and communities, then people will naturally question whether this was just voter list correction or something politically motivated.

Democracy survives on trust, and right now many people clearly do not trust this process.
