Bank of Ghana retained its policy rate at 14% in its July 2026 MPC meeting

Ghana's headline inflation edged higher to 5.30% y/y in June-2026 from 3.70% y/y in May-2026, reflecting its highest level since Dec-2026. Although inflation remains low, the recent spike signals emerging price pressures within the economy.

Against this backdrop, we expect upward pressure on yields as markets price in increased inflation risks and potential adjustments to the monetary policy outlook

Ghana's economy grew by 6.4% year-on-year in Q1 2026, up from 6.2% in Q1 2025.

This continued growth suggests that the economy remains relatively stable and supportive of business expansion. It could also create favorable conditions for companies listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) to sustain strong performance.

Ghana’s headline inflation advanced by 30bps to 3.70% y/y in May-2026. Although still relatively low, indicates rising inflationary pressures, as the CPI rose for a second straight month.

Ghana’s disinflation trend continued, with inflation easing by 10bps to 3.2% y/y in Mar-2026. The latest print appears largely driven by timing effects in the data compilation (captured in the first week of the month), before the full impact of rising crude prices and unfavourable base effects filtered through.

Looking ahead, I still expect inflation to edge higher in Apr-2026 as these pressures begin to materialise.

Any thoughts on the implications for yields and the broader outlook for Ghana’s economy for 2026?🧐😳😗

Ghana’s Inflation declined from 5.4% y/y to 3.8% y/y in Jan-2026.

This is below my estimated 4.5% y/y to 4.9% y/y

Thoughts on how it impacts your investments and the economy at large???🧐😗

Bank of Ghana slashed its policy rate by 250bps to 15.5% from 18%

Meaning the average lending rate by banks (currently at 20.43%) should be following suit in the near term
