HOCKEY DAD BAND
A project that has been bagged and tagged for years, “The Clip” is a collection of songs from a lost time in HD lore; a time of uncertainty, vulnerability and free-wheelin’. A brunt, forward facing EP layered on a foundation of irritable energy.
Calling back to some of the more abrasive sounds and styles of previous records Brain Candy and Blend Inn, these songs are an exorcism of a past life. After the carefully crafted and gently performed songs of Rebuild Repeat, “The Clip” feels confrontational and determined to be heard. Laying out feelings of hopelessness, cynicism and ambivalent acceptance to a post-normal planet earth - ushered along by unrelenting guitars, stickily sweet drums and vocal deliveries bred for a rumbling live stage.
Join us for a trip back in time to visit younger, brattier versions of Hockey Dad as they undo The Clip and feast on the baked goods inside.

Tomorrow we release our new EP! It's been a long time coming.
Memories have flooded back in from 3 years ago. It was our first ever time staying at a studio, rather than returning to a home base after a days work. We packed our sleeping bags, sorted our groceries for 2+ weeks, locked ourselves in the studio and didn't leave until we ran out of beer... which didn't take long at all really.
In between all the fun, we also had some cabin-fever moments, which definitely led to some experimentation. One of the finer moments was when our bass player Steve came down with an illness and was forced to record all of his parts from outside the studio on the verandah. In hindsight, we may have sent ourselves a little crazy over those few weeks.
We've been itching to release these songs, and we are so keen for you to finally hear them.
