Hello! Welcome to my main channel, making videos on sewing, patterning, costuming, and historybounding. Currently posting new videos every possible Saturday morning :)
If I have a mission statement, it is accessibility. I'm not a professional, but I like to experiment, and I'll happily report my findings. I hope that every new thing I discover about patterning, fit, and construction help break down whatever barriers and intimidations are stopping you from sewing.

Another survey! The last one was sort of a trick question. I know most people like both, and if I made that an option it would get probably 95% of the vote. I was interested to see what you would choose if you had to just pick one. Now which do you prefer?

Hello! I'm back.
I'm working on a new video. Not a sewing video, just a simple, chatty update video. There's a lot to update you on. A lot has changed for me in the last few months. Don't worry, it's all good stuff, though it will impact the future of the channel and the type of content I make. But now life is leveling out and I'm getting into something like a routine, so it's time to get back to work. I'll tell you all about it in the video ❤️

Any recommendations for Lancaster, PA? Cool fabric stores or antique shops?

Hey! A new video is coming soon, but not today. I won’t wait until next Saturday to post though; part 2 of the Just Breathe dress will go live as soon as I finish ❤️

The result. The original fabric is described as “pale pearl gray”. Bottom right is the original white. Top right was the goal. Underlying fabric is what I have now. So I just have to decide if it’s worth the risk to do another wash, or if I should just be glad I haven’t messed it up yet and call it good.

Still struggling with dye. The top is the goal. Barely gray, with warm undertones. The bottom three are what I’ve gotten so far. The lightest isn’t terrible, but they all have very strong purple undertones. I guess that means it’s a mixed dye, and trying to go lighter is highlighting the purple in the mix? Not sure if I should try buying another dye.

Thanks for all of the advice on fabric dying! An order from Dharma Trading Co is on the way to me.
Next topic: the neckline lace. These are currently the highest quality photos I have of it, and they aren't great. But what are your theories? My best guess is currently that it's bobbin lace, with metal ribbon embroidery embellishment. But I have no experience with lacemaking, so I really don't know. There is a denser mass of threads beneath the flowers, and the ribbon near the top almost looks like a silk satin ribbon, but wavy on one side. I could be wrong about the bobbin lace. It could even be all embroidered on top of cotton bobbinet, with the gold thread securing a ribbon along the edge. But what do you think?
