Neal Shah, MD | Healing Microbiome

I'm Dr. Neal Shah, a Harvard-trained nephrologist and former
Assistant Professor of Medicine at Johns Hopkins.

I came to the microbiome through kidney disease, not
gastroenterology. I look at it as a body-wide regulatory system
rather than a digestion problem, and I teach that the nervous
system influences it. That last part is my own framework rather
than settled science, and I say so every time.

On this channel: the gut-brain axis, the vagus nerve, chronic
fatigue and brain fog, sleep, bloating, SIBO, probiotics and
what sequencing data actually shows, cortisol and stress
physiology, and why protocols that work for six weeks often
stop working.

I also tell people what this approach cannot do. It does not
apply to genetic conditions, structural problems, scar tissue,
or tissue that has lost its blood supply, and it is not a
promise of a cure.
