Special Lok Adalat under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 marks a significant step towards expeditious and amicable resolution of cheque dishonour disputes.

The Special Lok Adalat held on 18 July 2026 witnessed participation from 29 States and 5 Union Territories, reflecting a collective commitment towards reducing pendency and strengthening access to justice.

Through voluntary settlement, eligible pending and pre-litigation cases were resolved efficiently, reaffirming the role of Lok Adalats as an effective Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanism.
