CT brain plain axial section showing hyperdense signal of haemorrhagic density along right frontoparietal convexity, suggestive of subdural hematoma. This patient was on warfarin due to mitral valve replacement. This patient presented with left sided weakness. Fortunately patient made dramatic recovery and was able to ambulate independently within one week.
CT brain axial image showing an area of low attenuation in left ( dominant) lateral temporoparietal region with internal areas of normal attenuation suggesting left MCA infarction with cortical sparing ( due to collateral circulation). Periventricular and deep white matter hypo attenuation also evident suggesting cerebral microangiopathy ( cerebral small vessel ischemic disease).
Clinical neurology
Axial FLAIR MRI showing curvilinear cerebral cortical or gyriform hyperintensity. DD includes ischemic, infective, metabolic and neoplastic lesions like cortical laminar necrosis ( ischemic stroke vs hypoxic encephalopathy), CVST, hypoglycemic encephalopathy, encephalitis vs cerebritis.
