So, my thoughts on PlayStation stopping putting games on multiple platforms when they're single player releases.

I think this is one of many signs that companies are slowly, very slowly, waking up to what their worldwide customer base actually wants.

I understand the players who want every game on every platform. The idea of "play what you want, where you want" is a utopian dream, Halo on PlayStation is something I've wanted since I first played the series at 16 years old in a friends college dorm room! But we don't live in a world that allows such things, we live in a corporate hellscape driven by volatile markets. In this world every market requires competition to survive, let alone grow and thrive, and that competition doesn't really happen when all platforms have homogonised.

Look at Nintendos success as one example in spite of all the negative comments aimed at them over the years. They've never put a first party Nintendo game on another platform and as such to access Nintendo titles, you need a Nintendo console. In 2025 they still led the way in hardware and software sales with the Switch 1! An 8 year old console at that point.

It is a blueprint (minus the heinous legal proceedings) for success at both a hardware and software level.

The PC Ports for PlayStation haven't performed in a manner that makes them permanently viable, it's both a money and strategy thing, we all know that from earnings calls. The games aren't selling numbers on PC to recuperate porting costs, nor are they translating into additional console sales for players to play the next title day and date, so the company needs to reassess.

Single player exclusive games are a big part of what built PlayStation into the industry leading force that it is. Abandoning that strategy, and to a degree the trust that was built with consumers by it, by launching those exclusive games elsewhere, always struck me as strange. Exclusive games matter! Their quality on one platform causes jealousy in players on others (as the majority of players only have access to one platform due to costs) and it inspires developers to create something in the same vein but better (or at least the money guys to actually pay appropriately to create said project at a great quality).

A return to a known, positive and successful strategy, that satisfies all parties in the core ecosystem makes sense from so many different angles. Will I miss playing Ghost of Yotei at super FPS on PC? Of course! But the experience at 60fps is still stupendous, the platform doesn't change that core quality at all.

If Xbox do the same, given the words of the new CEO, we'll actually get a good cadence of strong games that are exclusive to certain platforms, that create jealousy and force innovation from the competition on all sides!

Ultimately i think it is a good thing. I get the PC only players concerns and disgruntled responses, they are 100% valid and no-one is incorrect for feeling that way. But the experiment didn't yield expected results, and it was a good, long experiment. 3 times the length of Google's Stadia experiment, twice the length of Apples Titanium experiment, 6 times that of OnePlus and their folding phones. 6 years is a proper stab at making an experiment like this work, ultimately though, it failed.

I feel for the PC players, but am hopeful it improves console gaming with internal studios only having to think about the one platform for optimisation.

A 50% price rise across the board and worldwide!

Gamepass was already a dip in and out service for me because of its high cost to low return benefit I got from it.

At these prices, it is solely a dip out kind of service for me.

Messing with rewards again too? Who is this change meant to benefit?

Hi folks

Quick update on content. I actually have multiple videos in progress, however, for the last weeks I have had work people in the house, and they're still here heading into a third week. This means space is limited and that I'm unable to record voice over and footage that I need.

As soon as works are completed it's hands to and I will do my best to make up for the lack of content through August

Dearest members!

It is that time of the month again where I ask for your input on your monthly Members-Cast content.

For those that don't know, every month I record a video only available to channel members. The video is advert free and covers any topic that you members want to chat or hear about. No subject (minus personal details) is off the table, it can be gaming or tech based like the main channel, it can be sport, personal thoughts on a news piece, anything really, the content is steered by you.

You can let me know here or in the Nerdmigos Discord linked on the channel page (or both if you REALLY want a subject covered.

So for August, what subjects do you want to hear about? What questions do you want answered? Let me know in the comments below or the Discord that the beautiful picture is from
