The painting that became the first Star Wars poster in 1977 has sold at auction for $3.875M, becoming the most expensive Star Wars memorabilia piece. Previous record was held by the screen used Darth Vader lightsaber which sold for $3.6M.

The painting by Tom Jung also becomes the highest selling piece for any movie poster artwork.
