Well I fell just short of my target of 4000 followers by the end of 2025, but I just wanted to say thank you to everyone that has watched, liked, commented and shared my videos on this channel and my‪@PondLab‬channel.

And I've just posted a video of my wildlife and filming highlights of 2025 you can watch here: https://youtu.be/VOaDqPRaU_k

Looking at my analytics the other day I realised I'm pretty close to 4000 subscribers, so I've decided I'm going to try reach that by the end of the year.
I've been pretty consistent sharing shorts recently and my Introduction to Wildlife Filmmaking was well received and gained me a few too.
I just posted a video where I recorded nearly all the audio (well narration) in the field which sped up the editing, so I'll be interested to hear what everyone thinks. I just me sat in one spot on the Thames estuary for a few hours filming what I can see

If you have ever fancied trying wildlife filmmaking or just want some tips on how to get better footage, I just posted a video on that very subject - its a long one though so get comfy first!

2 years ago I recorded a video on how to film wildlife along with my "wildlife Filmmaking setup" video, but it didn't come out very well. So a few months later I re-recorded it in a bird hide, but by the time I got round to editing I had thought of loads more things to include/better ways to explain stuff.
Finally earlier this year I recorded the A roll for this video, but spent the next few months adding in more and recording examples to illustrate what I was explaining.

But I recently finished editing it and it went live this morning!

Was chuffed to see my footage used to make the film about Kingfishers on BBC SPRINGWATCH this evening!
Last year I filmed the Kingfishers nesting at RSPB Rainham Marshes and used it to make a film about how to film a wildlife sequence (which you can watch in the link below) - well I must have done a pretty good job as Springwatch asked to use the footage along with some b roll of the other wildlife found there, including the Bearded Tit fledgelings.
I also had to get some better site footage, including a sunrise timelapses (which involved multiple mornings getting up before 5.30am) and a bit of drone footage (actually filmed outside the reserve boundary a safe distance from any nesting birds after consulting with RSPB)
Came out pretty well I think, especially when you consider all the kingfisher footage was shot through thick glass! Hats off to the BBC Springwatch editing team and big thanks to all the RSPB staff and volunteers, especially those of you that bravely waded in and carried out winter maintenance on the bank and cleaned the glass last year!

Just posted a new video on my ‪@PondLab‬ channel, its actually some footage I filmed for the Springwatch segment on pond snails last year, but they decided not to use it! Its all about a special worm that lives on pond snails, and helps stop it getting infected with parasites, including those that can go on to parasitise mammals like us! You can watch it here:

You may have missed it as the YouTube algorithm has decided to not show many folk, but I've uploaded my video of when I saw 1000s of dragonflies early one morning, back in June, on the Somerset Levels - so please go watch it now (if that interests you of course!)

A pretty rare Ruddy Shelduck from RSPB Rainham Marshes back in August, plus a Southern Hawker and Bearded Tit from the same visit, and there's lots of video of these and more on my YT channel: here https://youtu.be/dtL-YqrEfZs
