Can we have an honest conversation about the internet for a second?

Lately, I've been seeing more and more people changing themselves just to get attention online. Some change their personalities. Some create fake stories. Some pretend to be someone they're not. Some build entire online identities around what they think people want to see instead of who they really are.

And then when everything falls apart and the truth comes out, the same thing happens:

"I'm sorry."
"I made a mistake."
"I just wanted attention."
"I just wanted people to like me."

But why are we normalizing this?

Everyone wants attention. That's not a secret. Every creator wants views. Every creator wants support. Every creator wants an audience. But there's a difference between wanting attention for your content and getting attention by pretending to be someone you're not.

What confuses me even more is how differently people are treated.

Sometimes it feels like one person gets exposed and everyone immediately forgives them. Other times, another person gets exposed and they're called an attention seeker for months.

Why are the standards different?

Shouldn't we judge actions instead of choosing sides based on who we like?

And another thing I've noticed: why is everyone trying so hard to be someone else?

Why are so many people trying to look like a trend?

Why are people afraid of their natural personality?

Why are people changing the way they talk, act, dress, or present themselves just because they think it will get more attention?

There's nothing wrong with liking another culture. There's nothing wrong with being inspired by people from different countries. But inspiration and imitation are not the same thing.

You don't need to become someone else to be interesting.

You don't need to copy an aesthetic, a personality, or an identity just because it's popular online.

You don't need to pretend to be perfect.

You don't need a fake story.

You don't need fake drama.

You don't need fake relationships.

And you definitely don't need to become a completely different person just to get validation from strangers on the internet.

The saddest thing about social media is that people spend so much time trying to be accepted that they forget who they really are.

Your real personality is worth more than any trend.

Your real voice is worth more than any fake character.

Your real life is worth more than any made-up story.

At the end of the day, views come and go. Trends come and go. Internet fame comes and goes.

But your identity is something you have to live with forever.

So stop trying to be the person the internet wants.

Be the person you actually are.

Because the world doesn't need another copy of someone else.

It needs the original version of you.And something else that nobody talks about enough:

When people create fake identities online, they're not just lying about themselves. They're also affecting real people.

Some viewers become emotionally attached to that person.

Some genuinely trust them.

Some support them through everything.

And yes, sometimes people even develop feelings for the version of that person they see online.

But what happens when that identity turns out to be fake?

What happens when the personality, story, or image people fell for wasn't completely real?

The people who believed in them are left confused, disappointed, and questioning what was true and what wasn't.

That's why authenticity matters.

This isn't just about views, subscribers, or internet drama.

There are real people behind those screens.

Real people who invest their time, trust, emotions, and support into creators they admire.

Creating a fake identity for attention might seem harmless at first, but eventually someone gets hurt when the truth comes out.

Be yourself.

Not because it's easier.

Not because it's popular.

But because people deserve to know who they're actually supporting.
