Weird but True

What are the weirdest experiments performed throughout history?
Nicolae Minovici, a Romanian scientist, had a deep fascination with the physiological effects of hanging on the human body. He penned an essay meticulously examining nearly 200 instances of hangings, considering factors like the knot's design, the individual's weight, and even gender.
However, Minovici wasn't content with mere academic observations. He yearned for firsthand experience, leading him to embark on a series of bizarre and perilous experiments. He began by hanging himself six times using a non-constricting rope, enduring excruciating pain each time, as he noted:
"The agony was nearly unbearable."

Undeterred by the torment, he intensified his experiments. Minovici and his team used a standard constricting rope, allowing an assistant to suspend them, executing this risky process twelve times consecutively. Reflecting on his trials, Minovici often expressed regret, admitting that despite his valiance, he could only bear the ordeal for a mere three or four seconds.
Though Minovici subjected himself to numerous such experiments, they yielded no definitive results, with death being the only conceivable outcome. Given the bizarre nature of his endeavors, Nicolae Minovici's hanging experiments undoubtedly rank amongst the most peculiar scientific undertakings in history.
