Each year, Dr. Billy Earl Dade Middle School in Dallas, Texas, holds a “Breakfast with Dads” event to encourage fathers and father figures to connect with their students. Many of these students come from challenging backgrounds.

This year, some kids didn’t sign up for the breakfast because they didn’t have a father or father figure to invite. Principal Tracie Washington was worried about this. Kristina Dove, who helped organize the event, suggested asking for volunteers on Facebook to serve as “dads” for the day. She aimed to find 50 men, but her post quickly went viral and attracted 600 volunteers.

One of the volunteers, Archie Nettles, a motivational speaker and Army veteran, felt it was important to support boys who might lack a dad or mentor. When the students entered the auditorium and saw all the men, they were surprised and excited to talk to them.

This is a picture from 1952 of two best friends in Chicago who got caught by the police at night. They used to sneak out at night to ride the L train.
The boys were James Davis, age 5, who was black, and Ronald Sullivan, age 8, who was white. At the train station, James fell asleep on a chair while Ronald watched over him.
They seemed like brothers who cared for each other, even though they had different skin colors

After being lost in the sea and reaching America thinking that it was India, Còlumbus noted in his journal that some of the native people they met there told them that Black skınned people had come from the south-east in boats, trading in fold-tipped spears.
Còlumbus also saw the metal goods from West Africa and even got some of them directly from the native Americans.
Chèmical analysis from these tips found by Columbus on spears in Amèrican show that the gold came from Africa.
The world was already connected. After the fall of Granada, thousands of Moors left Spain that had been their home for seven hundred years to avoid living under Spanish yoke.
They migrateď to Africa. Some stayed at North African coast and improved their knowledge of navigation. That knowledge may be the one used by Emperor Abubakari II to reach America.
Most ancient civilizations had already circùmnavigated the globe. They just did not make of it a big dèal claiming that they had discọvered it.

True heroism isn’t about medals or fame—it’s about love in action. Joe Blankson didn’t hesitate. He didn’t count the cost. He gave his life so others could live. In a world that often glorifies self-preservation, his story reminds us of the power of selflessness. Imagine a world where we all showed up for each other this way—not just in life-threatening moments, but in the small, everyday ways. How can we honor his spirit today? 🕊️🙏
