Our friends at ‪@SciShow‬ released an explainer video that you might find helpful. Did you have COVID? Are you extraordinarily tired after exercise or a big event? Not recovering like you used to? You might have PEM (post-exertional malaise), a common symptom of Long Covid. Big takeaway: You can't exercise your way out of this.

There are no treatments for this condition.
Basically, you need to avoid over-exerting yourself to avoid a "crash" that completely incapacitates you.
And, above all: avoid any further infections.
People who are suffering with Long Covid are mostly out of sight, but they are still out there, and more people are joining them every day. Please keep your good thoughts focused on our colleague Dianna Cowern ‪@physicsgirl‬ and our co-founder Michael Harrison who have Long Covid.

Socratica Friends, we're back home after being evacuated from the LA fires.

Our home and our studio are still here.

We didn't realize this at first. We assumed everything burned, because the fires were right next to us. We evacuated on January 7th, and everything around us was on fire. There were fierce winds and embers flying in all directions.

We don't know what kind of miracle allowed this to happen, but everything burned around our small neighborhood. Firefighters fought the firestorm mightily and tirelessly. People came together to help each other. We saw the best in so many Angelenos.

We were not able to come back to inspect our place for about 2 weeks — during much of that time we thought we were not going to have a home to return to. But then we heard a whisper from a neighbor (who had heard from someone who had heard from someone else) — that our block was okay. And then a satellite photo was released, and we zoomed in close and saw that 𝙎𝙤𝙘𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙖 𝙎𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙞𝙤𝙨 𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙨.

The water wasn't safe to use, and we didn't have gas, but our studio stands.

It's very, very dirty — full of soot and ash. There is debris on every surface from the windstorm and the fire, and we've ordered some hazmat suits and lead wipes to start to decontaminate. Anyone have any advice about cleaning up after a fire?
