Busy on a shoot so unable to do a reaction video to the Canon C50.
First off I’d love to know if anyone is getting one, are you switching systems or is this an additional or upgrade from a previous canon camera?
From what I’ve seen though it looks like a great camera for anyone invested in the canon ecosystem but might not be enough to attract people away from Sony or other systems.
Lack of IBIS is a bit strange for a small camera, micro jitters will be a problem however Canons IBIS has never been great and they do have stabilisation in their trinity lens set so maybe they see people buying those three lenses and being sorted.
To be fair with full frame 2.8 is enough for most situations now days so you could easily just have a C50 and those lenses and be very happy with your set up.
I do think it’s a bit of a glimpse of what the FX3 mark ii should be, resolution, internal raw, better screen and open gate would all be expected features to see in it.
On curiosity is still the slightly messy Canon line up, where does this fit? In some ways it’s better than a C70 and C80 in other ways it’s not. You still have 3 very different sensors so I could see matching being a problem compared to the FX3 and FX6 pairing.
Honestly I think they should have used the C400, C80 sensor, it would have been cool to have the same sensor in three distinct form factors.

New upload!
I want to share more real world, on going reviews of the kit that I use. In this video I look at the first social media shoot I’ve done with the Panasonic S1ii and how it went.
I hope you like the style, I’ve got plenty of BTS for future videos to make these videos even more informative.

Using the @PanasonicLumixVideo S1ii a bit more. Really getting into the grove of using it. Things I’ve noticed and really like as I’ve used it more:
EVF is really great, like I’m not sure I could go back to not having one again.
Being able to tap the autofocus button even when the lens is set to manual is extremely useful.
Love the extra detail of the 6K sensor and just having the additional spare image above and below the 16:9 crop.
False colour should be standard on all cameras.
Oh yeah and I’ve still yet to see an overheating warning. Hottest so far is 27C in direct sunlight for 2-3 hours. Not continuously recording though.

Our Panasonic S1ii has arrived! Along with the 24-60mm lens
First impressions:
Feels solid
Screen and EVF are amazing
Built in False colour is really nice
Lens is really compact but well made
Intrigued to see if this could become our main camera, need to see if we have any overheating concerns (especially abroad) before we commit.
If we did we’d look at getting a couple more and probably switching away from Sony.

Hi all, I've been thinking about the overall direction of my channel and the type of content that I should be making. I've got a few ideas, but I'd love your input on this as well given you'll followed me for so long.
From a personal standpoint I've realised I really like to keep my filmmaking minimal both personally and professionally. Last year I worked on a couple of very large projects which to be honest I didn't enjoy nor do I think the results were that great. It's easy to feel with bigger budgets and crews that the exception is for you to go bigger when in reality you should probably stick to why they chose you in the first place.
With that in mind I want to make sure this channel really reflects that, it does already to some degree with snippets of info and thoughts which align with how I work however I think it could be a bit clearer and better formatted so new viewers know exactly what I'm about and you guys get as much value from my content as possible.
So, what does it mean? Well I will still do thoughts on new releases, industry trends, review gear and breakdown work I've done but I will make it with a clearer perspective that anchors all the channels content together.
One idea I do have is to keep you up to date with my current main kit I'm using. It's easy with all the YouTubers testing new gear, to think that they are constantly changing however I think its interesting to see what actually keeps getting used in the months and years after a product has been out.
Ultimately I've realised I enjoy and I'm best at filmmaking when I'm keeping things simple and keeping kit minimal. I think theres a lot to learn from this approach too as it's easy to feel we need more and more gear to get better at what we do.
That said I'd love to know what you most enjoy or would like to see more on this channel. Let me know in the poll as well as any other thoughts in the comments below!

Busy working in Dubai so I haven’t got a chance to do a video on the new FX2.
Honest thoughts from what I’ve read and watched.
Viewfinder looks awesome - wish my FX3 had that.
Screen still looks poor. - come on Sony, you make phones surely you can give us a great screen.
A7iv sensor isn’t the worst idea however surely it could have had a processor upgrade to allow full frame 4K60.
Hard to not argue that the S5ii pretty much offers everything the FX2 has for a much cheaper price.

What to see how I shoot a lifestyle scene for a luxury brand?
Check out my latest video where I do a 40 min deep dive into how I did it and the choices I made through every shot I filmed in the session.

I’d love to do more of these break downs as they are far more valuable than gear reviews however it really needs to get the views to make it worth it!

Happy New Year everyone!
Hope everyone has had a good Christmas and New Year.
I’ve got a few new videos on the way this month including:
Sigma 16-28mm Lens Review - this is a lens that has been on every shoot with my FX3 over the last couple of years, about time I reviewed it!
A top tips I’ve learnt from being a filmmaker video. Some really great nuggets of info in there I can’t wait to share.
New Monitor Review - A very cool and I can’t wait to share more info about.
I’m also looking at changing up some of the style. I want to share more actually on the job experiences, breakdowns of how I got shots and worked with clients and just a general more raw style to seeing everything that goes into our productions.
Leave a comment down below what you’d like to see? It would be nice to know what’s missing currently from my videos you’d like to see more of!
