Welcome bookish buddies!💖 I'm a literary lover and book hoarder. You'll find reviews for an eclectic array of literary genres & a gravitation towards material discussing social injustices. Beyond my love of literature is my even more fervent love for the Interview with the Vampire adaptation, which has inspired me to create a readathon.
For the next two years we'll snoop onto the shelves of our beloved characters to keep us all motivated to read. Prompts will be provided with each character introduction. You can either read the exact same books I'm reading or make your own selection.
SCHEDULE:
Tuesday: Book tags
Wednesday: Short Book Reviews
Friday: Productivity Sprints, twice a month
Quarterly: Cottage Loons (once every quarter)
Quarterly: Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o - A Celebration of Life
Quarterly: Neighborhood Nostalgia

Quick update:
Tonight's scheduled live was cancelled due to a conflict of schedule. Unfortunately I had a segment prerecorded for release tomorrow morning & all the footage disappeared so it'll be out Saturday, I'm just not sure what time. Another Country book review is behind as it's been a tough book to get through.
Keep reading everyone. 💕📚💕

Tucked away in a squishy manila envelope patiently waiting for me was David A Romero's debut novel, "The Enemy Sleeps." My heart is soaring with excitement to read this thrilling murder mystery by an author that has captured my attention through his raw spoken word approach to poetry, (My Name is Romero & Diamond Bar…) and now through centering a Mexican-American family in a noir genre set in Los Angeles. It does feel like the stars have aligned a bit as the cover is in a similar vein to my own taste in art pieces I already have in my home.
David A. Romero will be at Barnes & Noble in Brea, CA on Sunday, February 15, 2026 from 2-4 pm to sign his new book.
Synopsis from back cover:
Who killed Eliza Vazquez? As a Mexican-American family moves from Boyle Heights, Los Angeles into the sleepy suburban town of Harper they are met with suspicion. Who is the so-called "Harper Murderer?" Is it Michael Martinez, a construction supervisor with a quick temper and an anti-immigrant bias, Robert Parsons, a known racist with a number of secrets kept from his family and community, or Kenton Weaver, a disgraced former teacher who is haunted by the ghost of one of his students? Grievances both new and old emerge as members of the Martinez family, the Parsons family, and Weaver become tangled in a disastrous chain of events before a shocking conclusion.
Happy reading everyone!

I hope you are all getting the sunshine you deserve this weekend.
After repeatedly reading the opening of James Baldwin's Another Country I've put the book down and started reading Perdido Street Station. Twelve chapters in and I think I've found my stride. I'm hoping to squeeze a review out next Wednesday, but China Miéville's book is the size of a brick, so we'll see how that goes.
February 21st I'm hopping onto Elaine's channel @Cobaltdragon to discuss The Vampire Armand. Oh Armand, you sweet, sweet delusional gremlin. While reading his book I just kept thinking of Tina Turner's "What's Love Got to Do with It."

February 20th at 7:30p.m. (pacific time) Jesse from @ThisKiwi03 & I will be discussing Black Punk Now - Fiction, non-fiction & comics Edited by James Spooner & Chris L. Terry as an ongoing segment of our IWTV inspired readathon. If you're not familiar with Jesse's channel, not only does she have book reviews, but she has an incredibly entertaining and community engaging segment, "Read the Beats," that continues to capture my attention.

In the meantime, Ginger & Tauriel side eye me as a reminder that I don't hustle enough for their catnip, so if you haven't subscribed already feel free to paw our button.
See ya during tonight's sprint!
