A little big homage that is also completely its own thing. Pete made the beat using an Amiga which is why it sounds like you love it. Sometimes when I’m in a frenzy I just like to throw a beat on and say the first thing that comes to mind in a flow reminiscent of Kool Keith’s Bring it Down To Earth verse. Never usually keep them but these ones were too absolutely incredible to ignore.
Out everywhere now, there’s also video somewhere on YouTube if you’re that way inclined.
Originally released in 2015, Cult of the Damned quickly carved out its place as a landmark moment in the UK underground hip-hop scene. Dark, raw and uncompromising, the original line-up featured, in order of appearance: Lee Scott, Black Josh, Sleazy F Baby, Salar, Stinkin Slumrok, Bisk, King Grubb, Bill Shakes, Tony Broke, and Sly Moon. The rowdy bunch put together the blueprint for a sound and an attitude that would inspire an entire wave to follow.
Now, a decade later, this underground classic still reeks of damp basements, cheap lager, and unholy wisdom, and is back on vinyl for the very first time in a special 10th anniversary edition, featuring bonus track "Sky High", never available on wax before, and brand new artwork by Italian artist Claudio Scialabba.
