Привет, друзья!

Let's talk about the sound of the Russian language. For me, nothing sounds warmer than the way we use diminutives for the people we love.

Take the classic, strong name Иван (Ivan).
When you hear someone call him Ваня (Vanya), the feeling is already softer, more familiar.
But when you hear a mother or a loved one call him Ванечка (Vanechka), the warmth is undeniable. It's not just a name anymore—it's a verbal hug.

This leads to my question for you:
Which Russian name or diminutive do you think sounds the most affectionate or beautiful?

Forget the meaning for a moment and just focus on the sound. Is it Ванечка (Vanechka)? Or maybe Алёша (Alyosha)? Настенька (Nastenka)? Or another one you love?

Share your favorite-sounding name in the comments below. I’m so excited to read your choices! 👇

💙 The Russian Soul | Русская душа

When people talk about Russia, they often mention the mysterious “русская душа” — the Russian soul. But did you know the word «душа» (soul) appears in many everyday expressions?

Here are some of the most common ones:
✨ с открытой душой – with an open soul (sincerely, warmly)
✨ на душе легко / тяжело – the soul feels light/heavy (you feel happy/sad)
✨ от души – from the soul (wholeheartedly, sincerely)
✨ у него добрая душа – he has a kind soul (a kind-hearted person)
✨ вложить душу – to put your soul into something (to give it your all)

As you can see, the Russian soul isn’t just philosophy or literature — it lives in daily speech. To learn Russian is also to feel a bit of the душа. 🌿

👉 Which of these phrases is your favorite?
