Can Flatpack Democracy save post pandemic Britain?  When we focus on the gains that have come out of the pandemic wreckage, amongst them are innumerable stores of communities rebuilding, reclaiming politics and creating democracy.  Do we build on these or let them become a memory?

LOVE IT TV - Nature, health, ethics and the arts

Over the next eight weeks we are producing a series of videos offering simple steps on how to grow your own food. This series is free to watch and will allow everyone step by step instructions on how to transform a small balcony or a traditional grass covered garden into a place where we can learn, nurture the environment and grow our very own food!

Firstly, tell everyone you know that if they want to grow their own food this year that they better start soon before they miss the gap! Lot's of vegetables need around four to five months of sunshine to really thrive and fruit properly.

Why should I grow my own food?

It's good for the bank balance. With so many people out of work growing food makes perfect sense.

Growing food is good for our mental and physical health. Being outside in the elements is great for the body and the mind. Connecting to nature and the earth is very grounding!

The food supply chain is very fragile. In these challenging times it makes perfect sense to grow some food and reduce our reliability on the delicate food chain.

Sickness and Isolation. Growing food means people can stay at home for longer, eat their own food, have something fun to do and reduce their contact with others.

Supporting the local economy. Growing foods means we can give food to friends, reduce spending and contribute to building local community and economies.

Education – It is far easier to engage and educate children and young adults when you are actually making stuff happen with your hands. If you need to stay indoors for a week or two then why not grow food as a way to learn and pass the time?

Everyone can grow food. We are not saying that food is going to run out but having a few salads and edibles in your garden is a brilliant idea! Everyone can enjoy creating stuff that they can actually see grow, nurture and eat!
