He used to scratch every surface
To get a feel for his surroundings, to learn more about the world... he'd scratch and be fascinated by the sound and texture of each thing.
It was sometimes annoying but most times it was intriguing because I would always want to know what he was thinking... was one sound more pleasing than the other? Did one feel better?
Now that he's off to school I can still see his wheels turning, I witness him learn and grasp new skills and ask insightful questions everyday.
He's off to school and I'm still so intrigued by him! And I want him to know that he has only begun to scratch the surface of his potential, his gifts, his wisdom, his understanding, his influence; there is so much more that God has in store for him.
But as for me, as his mom, I won't be scratching at anything that gets in his way. I will forcefully rip down every barrier and kick down distractions and walls that are in my power to kick down. I will be there. And even though we've released him like an arrow into this big and sometimes scary world, he is not alone. He is protected, he is covered and he is ready.
My hats off to you my Tao Mayo! I can't wait to hear of all the adventures, help you navigate through difficulties and watch you soar! Have an amazing first day of school!
