अक्षत का महत्व
चावल को अक्षत भी कहा जाता है, और अक्षत का अर्थ होता है जो टूटा न हो । अक्षत को पूर्णता का प्रतीक माना जाता है । इसलिए पूजा में इसे चढ़ाने का अर्थ है कि हमारी पूजा इस अक्षत की तरह पूर्ण हो इसका रंग सफेद होता है, जो शांति का प्रतीक माना जाता है, जिसे चढ़ाकर इस बात की प्रार्थना की जाती है कि व्यक्ति के हर कार्य पूर्ण रूप से और शांति के साथ सम्पन्न हो जाएं।
पूजा में चावल चढ़ाते समय इस बात का विशेष ध्यान रखें कि चावल खंडित (टूटे) ना हों, ओर निश्चित रूप से साफ और स्वच्छ होने चाहिए।
