Sometimes you travel around the world to see the beauty of nature, and then sometimes you just open your front door (like my view here). There is something magical about a fresh blanket of pearly white snow before it’s been adulterated by the forces of civilization. It has the power to transform even the busiest of spaces into a wonderland of peace and tranquility. I absolutely love that!!! Don’t you?
Hikers like us often travel great lengths into the depths of nature to find places that give us this feeling. It’s a special moment indeed when nature comes to us, where we are, to tell us that beauty can be found all around us if we just care to look.
Now, with that beautiful thought in mind, it’s nearly time to get out there and shovel. Sigh… got to love the irony in that! Nothing comes easy I guess.

I’m back within cellular range and have so much to share from my time in Patagonia! Where should I start? Let’s begin with one of my favorite photos. On a hike up to Laguna Capri, an alpine lake near the Fitz Roy mountain range, I snapped this shot from a small rock outcropping above the forest. Behind me is the famed Fitz Roy mountain range, featuring the snow-capped mountains visible in this picture. Interestingly, these mountains are silhouetted in the Patagonia Clothing Brand’s logo. How crazy is that! I can see why they chose it. These mountains are awe-inspiring!

This morning reminded me that life is a fleeting dream, filled with opportunities requiring unwavering determination. My journey began at 4 AM, as I rose early, prepared breakfast, loaded up my car, and drove the half-hour to a nearby lake. As I paddle to the heart of the lake, accompanied by a close friend, the crisp air, autumn leaves, and soft light harmonized with the morning mist and quiet waters to craft this mesmerizing dreamscape. It was free for the taking, but attended only by two. What a way to start a work day! I was off the water by 8 AM and in a conference call by 9.
