Goodbye to a Bodhisattva

Goodbye to Jane Goodall, a true bodhisattva who lived with compassion. She passed away on October 1, 2025, at the age of 91. Born in London in 1934, Jane became a world-famous zoologist, conservationist, primatologist, and anthropologist.

She dedicated more than 60 years to studying chimpanzees and, in 2002, was honored as a United Nations Messenger of Peace.

I grew up watching her documentaries on Discovery and National Geographic. Through her work, she revealed that chimpanzees use tools, communicate with one another, and feel emotions.

Thank you, Jane, for reminding us that humans are not apart from natureโ€”we are nature.

Lately, Iโ€™ve noticed a trend among my friends: many of them donโ€™t seem to have the patience to listen to an entire song. They skip tracks after barely a minute. This restless habit is often a sign of anxiety or ADHD. While music is a powerful tool for healing, constantly changing songs can disrupt its therapeutic effect.

To truly let music heal you, itโ€™s not just about listeningโ€”itโ€™s about how you listen. If youโ€™re constantly skipping songs, it might reflect an inner restlessness. The good news? You can use music intentionally to calm your mind and body.

How to Listen and Heal?

1๏ธโƒฃ Start with fast, upbeat music (no lyrics):
Play energetic, instrumental music and let loose. Dance, jump, or move in any way that feels natural. The goal is to release pent-up energy. Keep going until you feel physically tired. This step helps burn off the excess energy that contributes to restlessness.

2๏ธโƒฃ Transition to slow, calming music (no lyrics):
After youโ€™ve moved your body and released tension, lie down in a comfortable position. Play slow, soothing instrumental tracks. Let the music wash over you. Donโ€™t focus on analyzing the soundโ€”just be. Allow your mind to wander or simply flow with the rhythm. This is where true healing begins.

The fast-paced music helps release built-up energy and stress.
The slower music helps calm your nervous system and encourages relaxation.
Avoiding lyrics ensures your mind doesnโ€™t get distracted by words, allowing you to connect more deeply with the music's rhythm and flow.
