Mother Nature has been incredibly generous! We've just had another 30cm of fresh powder blanket Bansko overnight, and today greeted us with a glorious bluebird ski day.

The season's start has been nothing short of spectacular, and it's set to continue:

There is a dusting of snow this morning on upper slopes. However it is too early to get too excited as temperatures are yet to fall sufficiently low for the snow to stick. But it's good that some upper slopes have had the snow cannon on them and some whiteness starts to appear. The last two vlogs address how to make your arrival a stress-free and enjoyable experience, so I've broken it down into two parts: How to buy a ski pass and the equipment hire part.

As always, I recommend you put your own package together for the highest quality for the money experience. And those short weekend (or mid week) ski trips really help fitness and extend the excitement throughout the winter ski season.

I hope your summer was a good one. Certainly the warmest I've known here in Bulgaria. Now it's time for the pre-season countdown and there's still much to enjoy in Bansko. Hiking, biking, running and drinking craft beer will still go for me until it either gets too cold or the skiing starts. Snow Alert!! After an incredible week there is yet more good news; more snow for Bansko. I’m thinking another 15cm will fall on upper slopes on the 19th March. Today, we encountered unexpected challenges due to high winds. A tree obstructed the gondola line, and another blocked the ski road. Thankfully, both issues were swiftly resolved, allowing the gondola to operate later in the day.

This incident serves as a valuable reminder to consult the Bansko Blog app - get.banskoblog.com/ - before heading to the gondola lift in the morning. The Todorka cam recorded gusts exceeding 100 km/hr, underscoring the importance of staying informed about weather conditions.

Looking ahead, we anticipate more high winds tomorrow (Saturday) and the possibility of light snowfall at higher elevations on Sunday.

Ski road is now open and it's in the latest vlog: https://youtu.be/aiiNgcBq9bw .There will be some snow falling higher up with a little rain in town. Don't let this put you off because on Saturday night and Sunday temperatures drop and a 20cm+ snowfall hits Bansko!! Next week will be nice and cold with superb ski conditions.
