The Automated Testing Stations introduced by #MoRTH mark a decisive shift in India’s vehicle fitness ecosystem. With technology-driven, sensor-based testing, ATS ensures uniform, tamper-proof and error-free assessment of vehicle fitness and emissions.

These facilities beyond improving road safety, play a critical role in reducing vehicular pollution, supporting India’s climate commitments and promoting cleaner mobility. This initiative accelerates India’s journey towards safer roads, cleaner air and a technologically empowered transport system, a significant step in realising the vision of a #ViksitBharat.

TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT TO ENFORCE GREEN COMPLIANCE STICKER NORM WITH ACTION AGAINST VIOLATORS FROM FEBRUARY ELEVEN ACROSS ODISHA STATE

The Odisha government has announced that green compliance stickers will become mandatory for all vehicles across the state from February to strengthen enforcement of the amended Motor Vehicles Act and curb vehicular pollution. Commerce and Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena said the stickers will certify that vehicles meet statutory requirements, including valid pollution under control certificates (PUCC), insurance, registration and fitness documents.

Action will be taken against vehicles violating norms from February 11. The minister clarified that the move is aimed at environmental protection and improved compliance, not revenue collection. He urged vehicle owners to ensure all documents are updated before the enforcement begins.

Raising concerns over the improper issuance of pollution certificates, Jena said PUCCs are being granted without adequate scrutiny. He directed officials to examine the system and said additional PUCC centres may be opened to reduce rush and ensure accountability.

Addressing concerns over penalties, the minister said fines imposed since 2019 will be reviewed. Meanwhile, the State Transport Authority said traffic e-challans can be paid both online and offline, with RTOs accepting cash to ease public inconvenience.
