Welcome Aboard. I am your friendly, neighborhood evaluation droid. Here, I discuss writing and the art of storytelling in all kinds of media. If you are a writer, animator, filmmaker or simply enjoy analysis videos, this place is for you.
After sitting through 4 episodes, I am ready to share my views on the show. Did they learn from season 1 or are we getting more of the same? Join the discourse today.
I'll be discussing projects posted on my Discord channel or shared with me. There's a lot of great work out there, but I still want to highlight some common issues and what to look out for when writing your own stories. Join me, ask questions, enjoy a chill evening.
I am currently in Istanbul for Holiday/Research for my novel. Plenty to take inspiration from, especially regarding architecture, history, atmosphere, and scale. Discord is blocked in Turkey, so I can't chat on voice or reply to messages. If you need to get in touch, email and x/Twitter are available.
We did it, boys! We hit 20k subscribers. It's another exciting milestone for the channel, and I really appreciate everyone who made this possible. The channel and my content have undergone significant evolution, and I hope they will only continue to improve.
I did not have a specific goal in mind for the Roaming Trend channel. I started the channel when I returned to Lithuania after 10 years of living in the United Kingdom. I struggled to integrate back into the culture and this was my way to keep myself entertained.
It was originally intended to be more of a comedy channel in the style of @InternetHistorian , but it seems that people preferred me talking about writing and storytelling. And honestly, I think I do, too. Plus, I can still add a bit of comedy in my videos, so thank you all for helping me find my niche.
As such, I think it would be fun to go back to one of my first videos I made for this channel. It's still using the original avatar too, so don't be frightened by Shaved Legoshi. :D
Asking whether your story needs conflict and resolution is like asking if you need a drill to make a small, deep hole in the wall. Technically, you don't, but gosh, why not use a tool perfectly designed for it? 😅
In case you missed it, I made a post-video Q&A stream yesterday. Not wanting to overshadow the new video, I'm keeping it unlisted, but feel free to watch it!
Recently, many nights have been spent doing public readings of stories from our Discord members.
First of all, I am super proud of writers willing to share their writing on our discord. It takes guts to put yourself out there, and even more to receive feedback and critique (especially from me). Trust me, learning to take feedback is just as important as writing itself (probably even more).
That being said, I started to notice the same recurring patterns in many of those works. Patterns that have less to do with formatting or prose, and more with the author's outlook on writing and their understanding of what storytelling is.
Perhaps a topic worth making a video about, so even if you are too shy about sharing your story, you can get feedback that's probably applicable to you too.
Question for you, what do you think are the most common problems new writers face or prevent them from improving?

I'm still alive and halfway through editing my next video!
Work, novel, and Summer are making it pretty challenging, though.
In the meantime, why not take a look at one of the webcomics I've been credited on?
I didn't do much, just gave some pointers over Discord.
