Super blessed to have had the opportunity to hike some of the steepest trails in Muong Hoa Valley (Sapa, Vietnam) with Tra, a local Black Hmong guide. While hiking, Tra shared so much about their plants, crops, and the ways the Hmong people live in close connection with their land.
Seeing how subsistence farming is practiced for the first time was really eye-opening as well. The Hmong people regularly plant, harvest, and forage from the forests that surround their homes. Watching how they moved through this rugged yet highly fertile landscape with such confidence and resourcefulness was really inspiring.
Came back from this trip with a very full heart and a deep respect for the way people live here~
