Like many others, I am on a journey of creativity with this modular synth thing. This channel serves to document that journey, the ups and downs, triumphs and disasters, and hopefully it will inspire a little bit on the way.

Apologies to anyone who has been trying to watch my most recent video on listening. Something has gone wrong and the video is cut off at 3 minutes. Just trying to figure out what has happened. Looks like I'll have to upload it again.

Hello, world!

Excited to let you know I have a new album out at the end of this week on the 25th May. If you are a subscriber on my YouTube channel, then you will have heard some of the tracks already.

Most of these tracks were recorded over the Easter/Spring break and I’m really pleased with how they’ve turned out. For me, each album I release marks another step on my modular synth creative journey. I’m learning all the time and improving my craft as I go. As listeners/subscribers/followers/etc. you get to share that journey with me and hopefully see the growth that has taken place.

The new album is simply called ‘Electronic Music’ and will be available in all the usual streaming spots. If you would like to support me further then I urge you to check out my Bandcamp page where you can pre-order the album and purchase a download. Bandcamp is really the best way to support artists in this day and age and every little helps me to keep making music.

Thanks for sharing this journey with me.

Speak soon,

Hello, world!

I'm interested in your opinions here. Maybe it's just me, but modular synth seems to be more popular than ever these days. There's a growing number of modular synth channels (I seem to discover more every day); this year at Glastonbury (arguably the UKs biggest music festival) there were a number of artists performing on the main stage (and other stages) with a modular rig somewhere in the setup. All of this is great for the modular community!

Sometimes I feel that modular synth music is it's own genre. You can find playlists on Spotify of just modular synth artists.

Despite all this, I see much of the content (my own included) related to modular synth on YouTube falls into a small number of categories.

Ambient, generative, techno and gear stuff.

Personally I enjoy watching all these types of videos.

I love listening to music created by other modular musicians and seeing how they perform whether it be ambient or techno or whatever. I love watching videos where artists talk about the gear they are using.

One of the things I rarely see on YouTube is how music theory relates to working with modular. Or discussion on the creative process and how artists work. This is an area that I find really interesting.

I'm curious as to what others think. What sorts of videos would you like to see related to modular synth?

Answers on a postcard!

Maybe something else entirely, let me know.
