What is a Kool kid?? Dayne was diagnosed with Koolen-deVries Syndrome on January 10, 2019 at the age of 10 months, and that's when he became a Kool kid!! Koolen-DeVries Syndrome (KdVS) is a multi-system disorder and is caused by a deletion or mutation of the KANSL1 gene on the 17th chromosome. The areas affected and features noticed are developmental milestones, intellectual disability, speech, reading and writing ability, behavior, cardiac, renal, urological, musculoskeletal, ear/nose/throat, vision, dental, skin/nails/hair, birth/neonatal, and distinctive facial features. Most children will require therapy and special education.
